Born in Iowa City a few days after John Kennedy was shot and killed. Grew up in Minneapolis, on Lake Calhoun. Southwest High. University of MN. Lived in a two-room cabin in the woods on Lake Superior. Cabin on South Long Lake. There's a lake theme developing here.

I remember that Terry Hall used to dress in a rather camp punk style with longer, spiky hair and heavy eye make-up, and they had a black drummer at the time. They performed a song to the tune of Harry J and the All Stars’ ‘Liquidator’, in which they shouted: ‘No one is – SPECIAL! Ev’ryone is – SPECIAL!’
